Kiko: GO adopted me w/o consent

A case of an orphan reluctant to be adopted. Senatorial candidate Francis “Kiko" Pangilinan has set the record straight that he will remain as an independent candidate and will not carry the opposition slate in his campaign. Pangilinan, in an interview with a television station Monday, said that though he was adopted by the Genuine Opposition (GO), the adoption was made without his consent. “I did not ask to be included in the ticket (of the opposition)", Pangilinan said. “I didn’t seek to speak with anyone (from) UNO (United Opposition)…There are people in UNO who are vocal on their opposition (to my inclusion in the opposition slate)," he said. He said he cannot join either the administration or the opposition because he asked for the resignation of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in 2005 and also did the same in 2001 when he supported the ouster of then President Joseph Estrada. “I hope that they will understand my independent stance…To carry the entire slate as an independent is asking a bit more" Pangilinan said, adding that while he will not carry GO’s entire slate, he will vote for some of them, like Benigno “Noynoy" Aquino III. He said that with the advanced technology that the media has today, the collective type of campaign that they did before, “does not work anymore". -GMANews.TV
