Palawan student dies of hazing in frat rites

A 19-year-old Palawan college student died after undergoing hazing during initiation rites for his fraternity, radio dzBB reported Monday. The report cited sketchy initial reports identifying the victim as John Alvigas, who died before he could be brought to a hospital in Puerto Princesa City. It did not mention the school John attended, but said the victim was a neophyte undergoing initiation rites of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity. John was reportedly rushed to a hospital in Puerto Princesa City at 4 p.m. Sunday, but it was too late for doctors to save him.
