DOLE gives tips to nursing exam reviewers

All systems go for review classes in preparation for the June 11-12, 2007 nursing exams retake. On the eve of the start of registration for review courses, the Labor Department gave last-minute tips Tuesday to nursing examinees who will take review courses for the retake of the leakage-tainted June 2006 nursing board exams. In a statement on its website (www.dole.gov.ph), the DOLE said registration for the Special Review program for the voluntary retake of Tests 3 and 5 will start March 21 until April 4, 2007. Labor secretary Arturo Brion said the registration for the Special Review program may either be online through a website established by the DOLE for the purpose, or manual registration. Those who want to register online can do so at www.specialnursingreview.dole.gov.ph, and click the Register button on the menu bar. They should then type their PRC license number and last name on the corresponding box provided, then click the Register button. After that, they should type in the necessary information to complete the registration process, then click the Continue button. When prompted, they should select your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd preferences from the list of specific fields (area, school, and schedule) then click the Submit button. They should then click the Print button to obtain a copy of proof of registration, and a notification will be sent to their contact number (text or e-mail) by the Center Of Excellence or selected nursing schools prior to the start of special review class. "Once notified, you must secure a copy of proof of confirmation by visiting the website and simply printing the confirmation slip as provided by the system," the DOLE said. To view and print the proof of confirmation, examinees should type in their PRC license number and Last Name on corresponding box provided, then click Check confirmation and Print buttons, respectively. For manual registration, examinees should secure a Registration Form from any DOLE Regional or Provincial Office or any of the listed COE and selected nursing schools. They should fill up the necessary information and submit the accomplished form to any of the offices/institutions and secure a copy of registration. A notification will be sent to their contact number or e-mail by the COE and selected nursing schools. "If you haven't received a notification two weeks prior to your scheduled date of review, you may visit any of the offices mentioned for the list of confirmed reviewees; and, once notified, you must secure a copy of proof of confirmation from the schools indicated in the notification document/text message," it said. Manual registration may be done either in the Regional Centers of Excellence (COEs) coordinating schools, Participating Nursing Schools, and DOLE Regional and Provincial Offices. Both on-line and manual registrants to the Special Review program are advised that the proof of confirmation must be presented during the first meeting of the review. Brion said that the Special Review Program is being made available free of charge, on a first-come, first served basis, in coordination with the recognized COEs in the field of nursing, and participating nursing schools. The COEs are as follows: University of the Philippines Manila, Saint Paul University Philippines, University of Sto. Tomas, UERM Medical Center, St. Paul University Iloilo, Silliman University, St. Louis University Baguio City, Xavier University Cagayan de Oro, and San Pedro College Davao. Nationwide, the Participating Nursing Schools are as follows: Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Trinity University of Asia, Saint Mary's University - Bayombong, Saint Paul University - Dumaguete, Velez College, Saint Paul University - Manila, Remedios T.
