Philippine Blog Awards cites 22 best blogs in RP

The best and brightest Filipino pens in cyberspace received fitting tribute on Saturday at the 2007 Philippine Blog Awards in Makati City. The Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (www.pcij.org/blog), a content partner of GMANews.TV, and 21 other blogs in various categories all emerged winners. Also as important, Ederic P. Eder of GMA News Research was declared winner of the "Pinoy Ako Blog Award" for his ederic@cyberspace blog that he began years ago after graduation from the University of the Philippines Journalism department. The Philippine Blog Awards (www.philippineblogawards.com.ph) also conferred honors on Filipino-owned blogs in 11 other main categories, namely: Personal, Technology, Travel, Entertainment, Home and Living, Socio-Political, Business and Entrepreneur, Sports and Recreation, Fashion and Lifestyle, Photo Blog, and Podcast. The 2007 Philippine Blog Awards was opened "to all Filipino bloggers who have full ownership of their blogs" but exclused "blogs belonging to blog networks or corporate blogs cannot be included because of ownership rights." The awards sought to "pay homage to 'grassroots bloggers' who have built up their blogs from their own efforts."
