Vandals deface EDSA banners of shampoo beauties

Who would splat with black paint the advertising banners of shampoo beauties teeming along EDSA? Competitors? Disgruntled consumers? Authorities have yet to find out but the perpetrators already earned the name “wet paint rag vandals" and officials of an advertising firm are wondering who could be behind it. GMA News 24 Oras reported Wednesday night that the mysterious group had already defaced at least 50 commercial billboards along EDSA by hurling rags soaked in black paint at the banners. A 24 Oras footage showed one of the banners being removed because the face of a star had been obscured by tar-like paint that flowed from the top to the shoulder of the model. Trackworks Inc, the agency that put up the advertisements, has sought the help of the public for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators. It also offered a reward, the amount of which was not disclosed. Most of the vandalized banners were shampoo endorsement bearing the pretty faces and shiny and flowing strands of hair of stars and commercial models. Greg de Leon, logistics engineer of the agency, believes the vandals are either angry at the advertising agency or at the company that advertised the product. The Metro Manila Development Authority has also offered its help in arresting the vandals. “If they are caught doing that they will be accosted and apprehended," MMDA general manager Robert Nacianceno told 24 Oras. - GMANews.TV
