Imee Marcos to meet with mom of Borgy’s victim

Mara Pardo de Tavera Brown, mother of a 22-year old man who was allegedly mauled by Borgy Manotoc, is set to meet with the latter’s mother Ilocos Norte Representative Imee Marcos next week. “Hopefully we can have a meeting, she as a mother and me as a mother of the victim, maybe sometime next week after I've had my family meetings," she said in an interview with Startalk aired Saturday. She said Imee has been calling her asking for a meeting. “I have told her that my family, based on the proceedings with Borgy at the Taguig police, they don’t want me to speak to her until we speak further with other people," she said. She believes her son’s, Carlo, strong body resistance helped him survived the incident. "Really kung ordinaryong tao yun siguro mas grabe pa yung sitwasyon niya ngayon," she said. She added: "Actually the doctors kept him ng 48 hours because lacerations in the head especially sa likod ng ulo could be fatal or could have complications later (like) brain contusions...so they have to observe. “Kaya in spite of the chair hitting him, a glass or bottle of beer na may piraso ng bote pa nga sa ulo niya..in spite of all that serious damage he is out of the dark," he further said. She said they were able to talk to witnesses that not five but 10 individuals, including Manotoc and a certain DJ Malaya, ganged up on her son. “Kasi merong mga witnesses and the witnesses have said sampu pala sila all together, 10 hindi lang lima. Borgy, DJ Malaya were the two fronting my son, pagkatapos sa likod ng anak ko walo, probably mga bodyguards ng mga kaibigan nila but there were eight of them na pumupukpok sa ulo ng anak ako at tinitirahan siya ng bladed buckled belts," she recounted. Brown narrates to Startalk: “Ang nangyari pala kinausap siya nung may-ari ng Embassy or Cuisine that night at pinainom pa nga siya ng dalawang beer and paglabas niya after the two beers nandun na sina Borgy and DJ Malaya." “Magha-handshake na lang siya to say look I meant no harm I didn't know she’s your girlfriend so you know there was no bad feelings and then paglapit niya me tumama na sa ulo niya. Malakas na tama so it dazed him, it must have been the glass of a beer bottle or something and then once na tamaan sa ulo sinuntok siya ni Borgy." She added: I can only say that there are many other stories in the past that can show the track record of Borgy. I don’t have to explain any further." She, however, said she has no plan of getting back at Borgy but she wanted all those involved to learn something from the incident “As a mother who really has always been an advocate for peace and a better life, hindi tama ‘yung gantihan because that goes nowhere," she said. She added: “I think what's more important is the spirit of peace and forgiveness but forgiveness doesn't mean letting somebody off lightly without him learning a lesson. There has to be a lesson that is learned by Borgy, DJ Malaya, their bodyguards and even the girlfriend Ornussa because she must have instigated something to create this and the same with the club owners. There's also lessons for them to learn there. Lessons also for the PNP detachment in that area and the security forces of that area." She said she is not angry neither frightened “that's not in my family blood." “And I'm sorry na tinamaan niya yung anak ko because yung pamilya ko for 200 years we stood up against the injustice of the Spanish, injustices in our country. Even if they do more damage to me than they did to my son, takutin nila ako, gawin nila the worst tortures to me I’m not afraid because I know that I am standing on the right side," she said. And her message to Borgy: “Ang gusto ko lang iparating sa kanya maganda sana if he upheld more honor for his family than this kind of behavior at huwag niya gamitin yung kanyang pamilya bilang panakot sa iba." - GMANews.TV
