Arroyo vows 'full cooperation' with US in Campbell probe

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on Thursday expressed sorrow over the untimely passing of US Peace Corps volunteer Julia Campbell, vowing to assist American investigators in solving questions surrounding her death. Presidential Spokesman Ignacio Bunye said in a statement that, "The President is saddened by the death of Ms Campbell and the government is extending its full cooperation to the US authorities in investigating the circumstances that led to it." In separate statements, the United States Embassy in Manila, the US Peace Corps and the Campbell family thanked Philippine authorities for their search of the 40-year-old American volunteer. Campbell was last seen on April 8 and was reported missing three days later. Her body was found on Wednesday at Battad village in Banaue, Ifugao where she was last seen. "It is unfortunate that a committed and selfless person, who has, based on the work she has done in Sorsogon, obviously grown to love our country, met a tragic end here," Mrs Arroyo said. - GMANews.TV
