PNP crime lab finishes Campbell's DNA sampling

The Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory has completed two of several tests on the remains of US Peace Corps volunteer Julia Campbell, and are now working to determine the cause of her death. QTV-11 television's Balitanghali reported Saturday noon that the crime laboratory expects to come up with results in "three to four weeks." "Dalawang procedures pa lang tayo. After autopsy, may ibang exam pa. Let us be patient (We just completed two procedures. There will be more exams. Let us be patient)," said Chief Supt. Arturo Cacdac, head of the PNP Crime Laboratory. He said observers from the United States embassy were allowed to watch the process, adding the crime laboratory had video cameras recording the process. Radio dzBB reported that the autopsy was held at the Loyola chapel where Campbell's remains were brought. Cacdac admitted that the PNP Crime Laboratory had no freezer and related facilities, and that the laboratory was forced to use Loyola's facilities. Media, including photographers and cameramen, were kept at a distance, the dzBB report said. Meanwhile, the wife of a suspect in the killing of Campbell denied allegations that her husband was involved in the murder. Grace Duntugan wept as she said her husband was not in the area when the supposed crime occurred. - GMANews.TV
