Kris Aquino says doctors discover clot in her lung

On April 19, husband and wife, James Yap and Kris Aquino, welcomed their newborn son James Yap, Jr. Kris gave birth to their firstborn at only 35 weeks. Baby James just weighed 4.3 pounds and had to be put in an incubator. The mother is still being monitored for complications and infections. Both are still awaiting recovery at the Makati Medical Center. The TV-host actress sent two official statements to ABS-CBN's entertainment talk show The Buzz last Sunday, April 22, about her and the baby's condition. The Buzz co-host and Kris's friend Boy Abunda read the two text messages. April 21: "Hi everyone! I was able to stand, walk a few steps, and have a sponge bath. My blood pressure is high, 170 over 84, but I'm not dizzy. "Baby James is being kept downstairs at the Nursery's ICU [Intensive Care Unit] because his breathing is labored. He's super tiny, but he really likes me. He quiets and relaxes while lying on my bosom. "Please pray for both of us so we both get healthy and strong soon." April 22: "Hi everybody! My health is much worse than baby James. I went through a battery of tests yesterday and had more than eight blood extractions, including three arterial blood gas. And my CT [computerized tomography] scans only finished at 6 a.m. today, and that's how my team of doctors discovered a clot in my lung. "The CT scan was scary because I'm highly allergic. Dr. Canlas had to test the dye that they had to inject in small intervals. Finally, when I showed no adverse reactions, they did the test. The dye goes through your body so hot that you feel that parts of you got microwaved. I'm being treated for that with clozane shots to my stomach, as well as oral medication for my elevated blood pressure, which is still at 150 over 90. "Baby James is a survivor. His color is better and is getting stronger. At least he's in better shape than his mom. "Dr. Martinez said that she'll give me ‘til late afternoon to regain some strength before we breastfeed again. Please continue to pray for us. It's at least 10 more days of hospitalization for us. "The arterial blood extraction done twice a day to check my oxygen hurts like hell, and the injection that's straight to my tummy na twice a day is so painful, mahapdi. "Very fitting Joel Osteen's bible verse today from John 16:33, ‘I have told you these things so that in me, you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world!'" - Philippine Entertainment Portal
