Suspect No. 2 in Campbell slay owns bloodied pants?

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will bring to its Crime Laboratory in Manila for further examination a second pair of bloodstained denim pants believed used by a second suspect in killing US Peace Corps volunteer Julia Campbell. PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent Samuel Pagdilao Jr said Wednesday the Crime Laboratory will examine the denim pants for traces of Campbell's blood. "Ito kinakailangang dalhin sa Crime Laboratory para suriin kung ang dugong iyan magma-match sa dugo ng biktima. Kung yan ay mapatunayang dugo ng biktima, magpapahiwatig na di lang isa ang involved (We have to bring it to the Crime Laboratory to see if the blood matches that of the victim. If the blood matches, it will bolster the theory that more than one person was involved in the crime)," Pagdilao said in an interview on dzXL radio. Earlier, police linked woodcarver Juan Duntugan for the killing of Campbell, based on the initial testimonies of witnesses. Pagdilao said police investigators are now continuing their search for other evidence at the crime scene, which he said will be similarly analyzed. "Hinihintay natin ang ibang ebidensya na nakuha sa crime scene (We are waiting for reports from the field of additional evidence that will be recovered from the crime scene)," he said. Other evidence recovered so far include a crowbar believed used in digging Campbell's grave, the victim's hat and umbrella found in the suspect's house. Investigators are looking at the angle that Dontugan did not kill Campbell by himself, after the second pair of pants was found in his house when police searched it. Duntugan allegedly asked his mother to hide the second pair of pants, and the mother meanwhile tried to hide the pants in a neighbor's house. Police said Campbell's hat and umbrella were also found inside Duntugan's house. Earlier, PNP chief Director General Oscar Calderon said initial autopsy results indicated that Campbell died trying to fight off her attackers. - GMANews.TV
