Nueva Ecija placed under Comelec control - report

The entire province of Nueva Ecija has been placed under full Commission on Elections (Comelec) control Saturday morning, following a series of violent incidents in the province. Radio dzRH reported that Comelec chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr made this announcement during a command conference at the police provincial headquarters early Saturday morning. It said Abalos made the announcement before election supervisors in 27 towns and five cities of the province, and provincial police commander Sr. Supt. Allen Bantolo. He named one Atty. Ramos as caretaker of the province, but it was not immediately clear who he was referring to. Abalos was to make a formal announcement later in the morning. During the conference, however, Bantolo and Abalos both insisted that "everything is under control." Under a scenario involving Comelec control, the Comelec takes over all administrative functions of the local government unit concerned. - GMANews.TV
