Campbell suspect may be taken to Crame - report

Woodcarver Juan Duntugan, the suspect in the killing of US Peace Corps volunteer Julia Campbell, may be brought to the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City for further questioning.

Government-run radio dzRB (Radyo ng Bayan) reported Saturday morning that this was the information relayed by Cordillera Autonomous Region director Chief Supt. Raul Gonzales to journalists based in Baguio City.

No reason was given for the plan to transfer Duntugan, who surrendered to authorities Friday and claimed he mistook Campbell for his enemy when she bumped him from behind.

Earlier, Ifugao provincial police chief Sr. Supt. Pedro Ganir said in an interview on dzRH radio that they were still scrutinizing Duntungan's statements and comparing them to those given by witnesses.

Ganir also said they will see if Duntugan had a history of drug use. - GMANews.TV
