JI terrorists, politics could be behind Tacurong blast - report

Politics and terrorism are being considered as among the likely motives behind a bomb blast that killed at least three persons in Tacurong City in Sultan Kudarat Tuesday afternoon.

QTV-11 television reported Tuesday night that police are looking into the possibility that the Jemaah Islamiyah may have planted the bomb at the marketplace to wreak havoc.

But it said police are also not yet discounting the possibility that the blast may have been election-related. Police were still analyzing the explosive used in the blast.

As of Tuesday night, no one has claimed responsibility for the blast.

At least three persons were confirmed dead and at least 28 were injured in the blast.

Meanwhile, as of 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, there had been no travel advisory from foreign embassies in the Philippines due to the blast. - GMANews.TV
