Annabelle hints abuse, denies 'materialistic' tag

Talent manager Anabelle Rama, mother of television host Ruffa Gutierrez-Bektas, told Showbiz Central on Sunday that she would rather that her daughter stay here in the Philippines rather than reconcile with her Turkish husband. Ruffa and her husband Yilmaz, who have been married for four years, have recently announced their separation. Ruffa said "cultural differences" were to blame for their split, while Yilmaz cites his wife's decision to revive her showbiz career in the Philippines as the reason. In a live interview on Mother's Day, Rama insinuated that Yilmaz physically hurt Ruffa. Rama said her daughter should stay here in the Philippines to ensure her freedom. "Si Yilmaz mabait pero masamang magalit. Ang away nila grabe talaga… Ang relationship nila puro away, puro selos," Rama told Showbiz Central. During the course of the interview, Rama repeatedly urged Ruffa to just stay in the Philippines with her two daughters, Lorin, 4, and Venice, 3. Yilmaz, for his part, has acknowledged that physical violence played a part in their split. In a statement sent to the media on Saturday, Yilmaz said "a series of mutual negative, psychological and physical violence and suppression events" led to their break up. Both Ruffa and Yilmaz denied that a third-party caused their split. 'Materialistic relations' In his statement, Yilmaz said "one materialist relative of her who take advantage over my wife" also caused their break up. Rama took offense to this line. "Obvious naman na ako ang tinutukoy. Pero hindi ako mukhang pera," Rama said. "'Di bale na umuwi siya (Ruffa) sakin na wala siyang nakuha kay Yilmaz. Ang importante sakin ang freedom ni Ruffa," she added. Rama said that if she really was after money, she would never have let Ruffa abandon her showbiz career in the Philippines when she left for Turkey. "Ako pa nga ang nalugi. Nawala ang commission ko nung three years na nawala siya (Ruffa)." Reconciliation? Rama acknowledged that her daughter still loves Yilmaz, but said that she should stick to her decision to leave her husband. Ruffa, she said, talks to Yilmaz on the phone every night. "Panindigan mo ang desisyon mo," she said, addressing Ruffa. She said Yilmaz is planning to fly to the Philippines tomorrow with his parents and other relatives in an attempt to persuade Ruffa to come back to Turkey. Rama said the life Yilmaz wants for Ruffa in Turkey is not her life. That's where the cultural differences Ruffa cited comes in, she said. " Sa kanila, ang babae, sa bahay lang, nag-aalaga ng bata. Hindi kasi buhay ni Ruffa 'yan eh." She said she would also rather have her granddaughters stay in the Philippines. "Dito na lang ang mga bata… (Baka) kunin ni Yilmaz yung mga bata (dalin sa Turkey) tapos pauwin na lang si Ruffa," Rama said, citing the film Not Without My Daughter starring Sally Field. - GMANews.TV
