Leviste's release welcomed with yellow ribbons

Former Batangas governor Jose Antonio Leviste finally walked out of prison, early Wednesday afternoon, after a Makati City jail official signed his certificate of discharge, radio dzBB reported. The report said Leviste was released from prison past noon and went at the city's LPL Towers with his son Charlie. His employees and friends cheered his temporary liberty. A welcome poster greeted Leviste. Yellow ribbons were also tied at the doors of the condominium to welcome his return. Leviste claimed self-defense in shooting dead long-time aide Rafael delas Alas inside his office in Makati City last January 12. DzBB said Leviste refused to talk about how the incident took place. He was quoted as saying that he would only reveal how the incident happened to the family of Delas Alas. Prosecutors initially charged Leviste with homicide but the justice department ordered that the charge be upgraded to murder. - GMANews.TV
