Marjorie Barretto: 'Dennis is courting me again like crazy'

"Kung tanungin niyo ako kung bakit ayaw kong magsalita, may mga anak ako and it's enough reason to shut my mouth, di ba? Hindi po kami magsisiraan na mag-asawa sa telebisyon just to satisfy everybody's malicious minds and just to satisfy the curiosity of the public," said Marjorie Barretto about her trial separation with husband Dennis Padilla in a taped interview with The Buzz. The couple announced that they are undergoing a trial separation in an interview with entertainment columnist Ricky Lo on May 25. Dennis and Marjorie were mum about the reason. It was only said that Marjorie wanted "space." The two will be celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary in November. Marjorie has three kids with Dennis—Julia, 10, Claudia, 7, and Leon, 2—and a child with Kier Legaspi—Daniella, 13. SHE SAID. "It's not as bad as people perceive it [the separation] to be. Dennis and I are very much on the phone. He calls me up. I call him up anytime. We're calling it a trial separation. It's not the end of our world," explained Marjorie. She added, "Dennis is courting me again like crazy. I'd have to control him. He's overdoing it. I mean, I receive roses like every day. Parang funeraria na ‘yong bahay ko. He's trying to win me back." There have been rumors that linked Marjorie—the newly elected councilor of Caloocan—with partymate re-electionist Mayor Recom Echeverri. "There is no third party. Actually, the black propaganda is not for me. It was for Mayor Echeverri, I think. But they did not succeed... The Mayor doesn't know anything about this. Let's give him naman the respect that's due him. He is the mayor, I think he deserves respect," Marjorie noted. "I only met him two months ago! Give me a break!" she stressed. "Whatever I said, ganoon lang ‘yon, okay? Kung gusto ninyong manganak pa nang manganak pa ang kuwento, it's up to the people. But hindi mangyayari na magsisiraan kaming mag-asawa." Marjorie also said that her husband, former Caloocan City councilor, will be helping her in her new job. "I have to also emphasize that Dennis will be very much a part of my being a councilor for the next three years. He's going to be mentoring me. He's going to be with me in all affairs ng City Hall na kailangan ng spouses. He will be there with me. He was with me in my proclamation. He will be there in my oath taking. In the events of my life, he is going to be there," she explained. She teased, "Until he finds another one... Until I find another one, that's the problem of Dennis... I have four kids! My goodness! Sino naman may gusto ng buy one take four?" HE SAID. In a separate interview with The Buzz, Dennis confirmed that his wife and he are trying to work things out. "I always talk to Marjorie. Every day we talk. Kaya lang siyempre, marami akong naging atraso sa kanya through the years. Naipon na 'yon. Tapos na-pressure ng campaign," narrated the comedian. He added, "Kaya sabi niya sa akin, ‘I need space.' So ‘yong space na 'yon, binibigay ko para magkaroon kami ng mas healthy na relationship. And I want this relationship to last forever, 'til the moment I die. In-explain naman namin sa mga bata kung ano nangyayari. ‘Help Mommy to cope up with the new phase that she is entering.'" Dennis warned their political opponents about spreading rumors about his family. "The trial separation has nothing to do with the pulitika, the political arena. Kaya lang andiyan na siya, nanalo na siya. Sana ‘yong mga political opponents namin, tigilan niyo na. Stop it. Hindi maganda 'yan. Tsaka nanalo na, e, naproklama na. Kahit na ano mang paninira ang gawin nyo sa asawa ko, nanalo na. Stop it. Sa next election na lang kayo bumawi," he asserted. He continued, "Actually, this political world, ibang klase ‘to. Siyempre she's a mother, she's a wife, she's a woman, she's pretty, she's young... Siyempre very vulnerable siya, e, di ba? Iba ang atake sa pulitika kaysa sa showbiz, mas malupit. And hindi ko siya pababayaan." He has this message to his wife: "I hope na sa tamang panahon, e, sagutin mo na ako uli. I love you, Marjorie. ‘Wag kang mag-alala, sa lahat ng naninira sa iyo, ang mangyayari niyan you'll be a very, very effective councilor. I know that you have a very big heart and you will serve the people well. ‘Wag ka masiraan ng loob. Mas lalo kang mamahalin ng mga taga-Caloocan. Dahil mahal ako ng mga taga-Caloocan, lalo ka nilang mamahalin dahil ikaw ay isang magaling na ina, mapagmahal na asawa at mabuting anak. We love you, Darling," he ended. - Philippine Entertainment Portal
