Raps filed vs Calbayog massacre suspect

Police filed on Sunday charges of multiple murder and multiple frustrated murder against a man who hacked to death nine people in Samar province. Chief Inspector Anecito Tecbobolan, chief of Calbayog City Police, said the case was filed against suspect Danny Guades, 39, before the Calbayog City Prosecutor's Office. Guades went on a rampage before dawn of Saturday in Gadgaran village of the said city, attacking his sleeping neighbors and guests at a wake using a bladed weapon. Aside from killing nine people, mostly children, 17 others were injured. SPO3 Jessie Gianan, desk officer of the Calbayog City Police, said Guades admitted to committing the crime so his amulet would work stronger. "Sabi niya sa akin, kailangan makapatay siya para mas lumakas yung anting-anting niya," Gianan said. Gianan said Guades claimed to have a Latin prayer written on a piece of paper for his amulet. Before the incident, Guades was seen drinking with local residents at a wake late Friday night, Tecbobolan said. Tecbobolan said Guades is a known trouble-maker in the village and is suspected to be mentally ill. - GMANews.TV
