Dad kills daughter, 3: ‘I stabbed and threw her in a creek’

Jayson Noriega, 22, correctly identified the body of a three-year-old girl floating in a creek. It belonged to Kyna, his daughter, whom he stabbed to death last week. “Patawad, patawad, ‘di ko alam ang ginawa ko (Forgive me, forgive me, I didn't know what I did)," Noriega told Jane Tabogoc, his former live-in partner and Kyna’s mother, when they saw each other on Friday at the city’s Justice Hall. Noriega admitted to police and the media that on June 30, he knifed his daughter to death while they were walking, and threw her into a creek near Meralco Avenue in Ortigas Center. The victim's skull was broken and her left chest bore stab wound when it was recovered by the police. Before the crime, Noriega asked Tabogoc and Kyna to go out with him. Jane granted Noriega’s request. The three went to a mall in the city with Jane’s younger child. While at the mall, the former couple went separate ways – Noriega with Kyna, while Tabogoc with her younger child. Computer printouts from the mall’s surveillance camera showed Noriega going out of the mall with Kyna. After three minutes, he was seen coming back to the mall without his daughter. After getting a clear lead on the crime, based on the video clips, authorities at the Eastern Police District went to Kyna’s burial to question Noriega, who was later brought to a precinct. Noriega did not deny that he and his daughter were the ones captured on the surveillance camera. He later on admitted to killing his daughter. Tabogoc was yowling. Though already drained by wrath, she was able to gather strength and threw a bottle of mineral water at Noriega, after he asked forgiveness from her. Kyna’s mother screamed at Noriega: “Hayop ka! Hayop ka! Demonyo ka!(You’re a beast! You’re a beast.! You demon!)" Noriega told police that he had two accomplices in the crime. One of the suspects, identified as Ruel Manalili, was caught by the police in Sampaloc Manila. But Manalili denied that he took part in the slay. He said Noriega only requested him to wait for Kyna outside the mall. “Nakisuyo s’ya sa akin na dalhin ang bata sa girlfriend niya (Noriega requested me to bring the child to his girlfriend)," he added. Noriega was slapped with parricide charges. He and Manalili are staying in prison. The other suspect is being tracked down by authorities. The police have not yet established a clear motive behind Kyna’s killing. - GMANews.TV
