Migz beats Koko in Bogo by 8,222, to lift lead by 9,784


Administration senatorial candidate Juan Miguel “Migz" Zubiri, has snatched the lead from opposition bet Aquilino “Koko" Pimentel III for the second time, election results from Bogo City, Cebu showed. Based on the tally of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), read by the National Board of Canvassers (NBC) on Monday, Zubiri overtook Pimentel in Bogo City by 8,222 votes or a difference between Zubiri’s 12,656 votes and Pimentel’s 4,434 votes. Bogo has 26,815 actual voters. Last week, Zubiri also overtook Pimentel in Pagalungan, Maguindanao where he got a total of 1,216 votes against the opposition bet’s votes of 740 votes – or a lead of 476 votes. If all of the votes so far earned by Zubiri would be combined, he would overtake Pimentel by 9,784 votes.

So far, Zubiri got a total of 10,987,669 votes composed of the following: 10,970,861 votes based on Comelec’s official canvass report no. 28 dated June 29 plus 3,616 votes from Shariff Kabunsuan province, plus Pagalungan’s 1,216 votes, plus 12,656 votes from Bogo, minus 680 votes from Tamparan, Lanao del Sur wrongly credited to Zubiri by the Comelec. Meanwhile, Pimentel so far got a total of 10,977,885 votes composed of the following: 10,971,362 votes from June 29’s report no. 28; 1,349 votes from Shariff Kabunsuan; 740 votes from Pagalungan and 4,434 votes from Bogo. The NBC has not yet included "provisional" tally results from Bais, Negros Oriental to the official canvass results, pending resolution of disputes and election protests. Bais has 37,904 actual voters. Based on the provisional results, Zubiri got 13,381 votes, while Pimentel garnered 5,473. Also, the board has not yet canvassed votes from Tandubas, Tawi-Tawi, which held special elections on Sunday. Tandubas has 270 registered voters. Meanwhile, special elections will be held in Pantar, Lanao del Norte on July 23. Pantar has 9,286 registered voters. The Comelec en banc is set to discuss Monday night the proclamation of the 12th winning senator, Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr told reporters, in an interview. He said the poll body might proclaim the winner either before the end of the month or before the 14th Congress opens on July 23. - GMANews.TV
