Nadine Samonte is all grown up

Say goodbye to the spoiled daddy’s girl from Bakekang and the sweet tweetums heroine from Super Twins. Nadine Samonte is back on the heavy drama front. And this time, she is edgier and more mature as she plays Katherine, a character originally played by no less than Hilda Koronel in the 1984 Laurice Guillien classic "Kung Mahawi Man ang Ulap". This was Nadine’s initial reaction when she was offered the lead in GMA’s Sine Novela version of the film. After playing various roles on television, Nadine has already proven that she is a versatile actress. However, she admits that she is entering an entirely new league. How did she prepare? She answered, “Kinausap nila ako. Binabasa ko yung lines ko ng maigi. Iniintindi ko iyong nandoon sa film para ma-compare ko kung paano ko gagawin. Siyempre mas gusto mo iyong napanood mo mas lalo mong gagalingan ‘di ba?" She reveals that the characters she has played in the past are so much different from what she is about to step into in her new afternoon soap. So, it is indeed a challenge for the young actress. She shares, “Actually noong nag-pictorial kami, lagi nilang sinasabi na iyong mata ko daw nagiging matapang sa picture so kailangan kong paamuhin daw. Nasanay kasi ako sa Bakekang na nagtataray." The Pressure is On As early as now, she feels the pressure of being compared to the great Hilda Koronel. Nadine already met the award -winning actress during one of the challenges in StarStruck. “Sobrang pressure kasi titignan iyon ng tao eh, impossible na hindi. Siyempre maririnig mo sa ibang tao na mas magaling sa iyo si ganyan, parang ang pangit pakinggan. Mas maganda kung sinasabi nila na galing mo kayang kaya mo iyong acting niya" she admits tentatively but with a smile nonetheless. What facet of Nadine will the audience encounter in Kung Mahawi Man and Ulap“? “Actually, it’s a matured Nadine. May mga kissing scenes. May mga scenes na argument with the mother. Mabigat. Talagang study on your own." Despite her grown up demeanor, Nadine retains her sweet nature which age cannot mess with. Proof was her answer when she was asked how she prepared for the kissing scenes. “Eh, di ako nagprepare! Ayaw ko magprepare! Kinakabahan ako, iniisip ko lang kinakaban (na) ako. Sila na bahala for that! It will look gentle. ‘Di masyadong garapal or whatever. ‘Tsaka ayaw ko rin ng ganoon kasi kinakabahan ako and nanginginig ako kapag may mga ganoong eksena!" She bursts out with an accompanying giggle. Nadine may be playing an edgier, more adult role but rest assured that beneath that demeanor is the same sweet young actress we've come to know and love. - iGMA.tv
