4 killed, 9 wounded in Jolo market dynamite blast

(Update 2 - 1:01 am) Four people were killed and others were wounded in a blast, which occurred Saturday afternoon at a public market in Jolo, Sulu, radio dzBB reported. Col. Antonio Supnet, 104th Army Brigade commander, told dzBB in an interview that the blast came from a stall at Serrantes market where dynamites and ammonium nitrate were stored. He said a couple, who were inside the stall, a Badjao and another unidentified individual were killed in the explosion. Supnet said he has not yet received reports on how many were wounded from the incident. "Maraming tao sa palengke (There were many people at the market)," he said, when the blast occurred at about 3 p.m. He said the stall was selling cooking oil, but at the back of it, there were stocks of ammonium nitrate and other chemicals and materials used in making dynamite for illegal fishing.
