2 NPA rebels killed in Camarines encounter


At least two communist rebels were killed while a third was captured following an encounter with Army troopers in Bicol late Monday afternoon. Radio station dzRH reported Tuesday that the encounter took place at 5:30 p.m. at Burabod village, Calabanga town in Camarines Sur. Citing sketchy initial reports from Army 42nd Infantry Battalion head Lieutenant Col. Alex Luna, it said a company of soldiers was patrolling the area when it chanced upon 15 rebels. The rebels withdrew after a firefight that lasted several minutes. Two of them were killed while another was captured and is being interrogated. Recovered from them were two M-16 rifles and one grenade. Calabanga is a second-class town in Camarines Sur, with a population of 67,408 people in 12,444 households. - GMANews.TV
