Report: 1 hurt as tornado hits 2 N Ecija villages


At least one person was hurt while several areas lost electric power after tornadoes hit two villages in two neighboring towns in Nueva Ecija province Tuesday evening. Radio dzRH reported Wednesday that the tornado hit San Miguel village in Quezon town and Mambarao village in Santo Domingo town in Nueva Ecija at about 6 p.m. Tuesday. The tornadoes followed heavy rains and winds and damaged several houses. Sketchy initial reports indicated one Jon-jon Bitardo was injured after parts of a house fell on him. Several areas were also reported to have experienced power outages after electric posts in areas where the tornado passed collapsed. Local officials are now assessing the damage caused by the tornadoes. Santo Domingo is a fourth-class town with a population of 45,934 people in 9,532 households. Quezon is a fourth-class town with a population of 31,720 people in 6,389 households. - GMANews.TV
