3-yr-old boy, parents die in Palawan grenade blast

(Update) A three-year-old boy and his parents died after a grenade exploded before dawn Tuesday inside their house in Palawan. Radio station dzBB reported that the incident took place in Barangay (village) Poblacion in Taytay town at 2 a.m. Senior Superintendent Dennis Peña, provincial police chief, cited initial reports as saying that a grenade exploded in the house. Initially killed were John Paul Barbon, 3, and his mother Emily Barbon, 28. Emily's husband Julio Barbon, 32, died while undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital, a separate report from radio station dzMM said. Initial reports showed that the boy played with the grenade, accidentally triggering the explosion. However, investigators are not discounting reports that the father could have detonated the explosive device as he was seen drunk before the incident. Taytay is a first-class town with a population of 53,657 people in 10,083 households. - GMANews.TV
