Comelec eyes electoral sabotage raps vs 2 media personalities

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc is considering to file charges of electoral sabotage – a non-bailable offense – against two media personalities "because of so many things they have manufactured" against the poll body. "We're thinking of filing some cases against some people high up in the media because of so many things they have manufactured. Baka it may involve electoral sabotage," Commissioner Nicodemo Ferrer told reporters Wednesday. He refused to identify who these media people are but he said they are the ones who are in the "airconditioned rooms." He said the reporters covering the Comelec are "younger and more principled than those in the airconditoned rooms." "They are spreading false news, false comment that diminish the credibility of Comelec. Sirang-sira na kami (Our reputation has been severely tarnished)," he said. He added that as soon as Comelec officials are ready with the charges, they will come out "to cleanse the profession." Electoral sabotage is punishable by life imprisonment. - GMANews.TV
