Cebu inmates going for another YouTube hit

Thrilled over the success of their first “dance video," inmates at the Cebu provincial jail are now preparing a follow-up number for Internet video sharing site YouTube. Sun Star Cebu reported on Sunday that the inmates are preparing another video showing them dancing to another 1980s hit, “Together in Electric Dreams." Earlier, the inmates gained international online attention with their dance video showing them dancing to Michael Jackson’s 1984 hit “Thriller." Capitol consultant on security Byron Garcia said the inmates are starting to practice the dance steps for the second video to be uploaded to YouTube. He said he hired another choreographer, Gwen Lador, who also conceptualized a crowd-pleasing dance number during the 438th anniversary celebration of the Province last Monday. Garcia said he is giving them two weeks to finish the dance steps, after which he will upload the video over YouTube. The dance will be presented to provincial governor Gwendolyn Garcia on Oct. 12, her birthday. “This will be my special tribute to my sister, the guiding force behind all of this," Garcia said. He said that more than the entertainment, the inmates’ dance shows they have discipline. Aside from the dances that serve as the inmates’ daily exercise, the Capitol has also instituted livelihood programs in prison, such as bag-making and other crafts. - GMANews
