NCLEX Manila testing set on Aug. 23

The National Council Licensure Examination-Registered Nurse (NCLEX) will begin testing in Manila on August 23, 2007, at the International Pearson Professional Center, the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) has reported in its website. In February this year, the board of directors of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. (NCSBN) in the US chose Manila as a site for NCLEX testing because of the “deep commitment" shown by the Philippine government in ensuring a secure testing center. Scheduling for examination appointments began on July 13, 2007. Filipino nurses who aspire to work in the US must pass the NCLEX to become registered nurses or licensed practical nurses. Intended for the purposes of domestic nurse licensure in states and territories of the US, all security policies and procedures used to administer the NCLEX will be fully implemented at the Manila site. Foreign candidates must first apply to the board of nursing in the state or territory in the US where they wish to be licensed before registering for the NCLEX. Registration for this year’s examination began on August 13, 2007. Testing fee is $200 for those who take the exam in testing centers in US territories or states – candidates who take the test at international sites must pay additional $150. Since January 2005, the NCSBN has maintained testing sites for NCLEX in London, England; Hong Kong; Sydney, Australia; Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver, Canada; Frankfurt, Germany; Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Chennai, India; Mexico City, Mexico; Taipei, Taiwan; Chiyoda-ku and Yokohama, Japan; and Manila, Philippines. - Luis Gorgonio, GMANews.TV
