Anonymous paper exposes Doble's alleged shady past

Vidal Doble, the former Air Force sergeant who admitted to having wiretapped former elections commissioner Virgilio Garcillano and President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo at the height of the 2004 elections, is now the subject of a smear campaign. A paper titled "the facts about Vidal Doble" has been sent to some mediamen. It included a photo of a multi-storey house in Pasay apparently built by Doble using the money he got for "selling" the so-called "Hello, Garci" tapes. The house, located at P-6-02 5th Street, Villamor Airbase, Pasay City, was estimated to cost millions. Doble allegedly has been frequently visiting the house, albeit, discreetly. A photo, purportedly showing the façade of the house, indicated that the third floor was still being constructed. Aside from "facts" about the house, the paper also contained information about Doble's supposed "third mistress" identified as Josie. She is now under the protection of "an influential Metro Manila Mayor," in reference to Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay. "The supposed 'noble' motive of Doble to resurface, however, is tremendously overshadowed by the money trail, especially when Doble is supposedly supporting three women," the paper read. After admitting his involvement in the "Hello, Garci" scandal in 2005, none was heard since about Doble. The former Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (Isafp) agent was dropped from the rolls after that. In 2006, Doble reportedly sought re-enlistment but the AFP leadership rejected his application. "The mysterious reappearance of Vidal Doble raised more questions than provide answers to the issues surrounding the 'Hello, Garci' tape scandal. The most prevalent question is why? Why now? What is the motive of his reemergence?" the paper added. Doble, who appeared in a video presented by Sen. Panfilo Lacson during the latter's privilege speech on August 21, claimed it was fear for his family's life that hushed the former military agent for the last two years. Regarding his wealth, it was established that Doble received P2 million from lawyer Samuel Ong allegedly in exchange for the tapes. The Isafp agent himself admitted in an affidavit that the money came from deposed President Joseph Estrada's mistress, Laarni Enriquez. Marieta Santos, Doble's other mistress, corroborated the claim. Before joining Isafp, Doble was assigned to the defunct Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force where he met Lacson. - GMANews.TV
