Taft Avenue stretch closed for 4 weeks

A key section of the Taft Avenue thoroughfare in Manila City will be closed over the next four Sundays to provide space to thousands of law graduates who will take their Bar Examinations. Radio station dzBB reported Friday that Manila traffic police will close the stretch of Taft Avenue from Quirino Avenue to P. Ocampo (Vito Cruz) to traffic on September 2, 9, 16, and 23. Traffic will be closed from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. on these Sundays. The police said the affected stretch of Taft Avenue is near De La Salle University, where the law graduates will take their examinations. Lawmen also vowed to tighten security in the area. Examinees are not the only ones expected there. The Manila police also expects many parents, friends, as well as fraternity and sorority members to show their support for the examinees. In past years, the police noted that even drum-and-bugle groups were brought in to pump up the spirits of the examinees. - GMANews.TV
