Porn site boybastos.com down but not out

Philippine-based Internet porn Web site boybastos.com may be down but definitely not out. GMA News’ late evening newscast Saksi reported early Friday morning that the controversial Web site has fired another salvo against its nemesis Sen. Loren Legarda, claiming she allegedly had logged in and registered as member of the porn site. Legarda, who urged the National Bureau of Investigation to trace the owners of boybastos.com, declined to comment but told GMA News that she is confident that those behind the “filthiest Internet site" will be nailed. The Web site apologized to its visitors by posting the message:"Pahinga muna (Break time)." The website owners, however, insisted that the reason behind the move was because of surging traffic to its site and not the criticisms hurled against it by Legarda. "Mga mahal naming boys bastos, masyado po tumaas ang traffic ng site dahil sa libreng publicity na binigay satin ni Senadora, GMA News, at iba pang mga istasyson ng radyo," the website said. (Our beloved boys bastos [indecent], our traffic has increased too much because of the free publicity provided by our lady Senator, GMA News, and other radio stations.) It added that, "Dahil dito, baka ma-kansela ang account natin sa ating hosting provider at lalo nang magkandaloko-loko. Pahinga muna tayo mga kaibigan." (Due to this, our account might be canceled by our hosting provider and that might lead to more problems. Let's take a break for now, friends.) As of September 3, Internet tracking website Alexa.com ranked boybastos.com 126th in the Philippines and 9,143rd worldwide. Boybastos.com advised its members: "Maraming site dyan na pwede nyo bisitahin, alam nyo naman na siguro yun. Babalik po tayo (online) paglipas ng ilang araw." (You probably know that you can visit many other websites. We will be back online after a few days.) For its parting shot, the website said: "p.s. Tsiks si Loren. (p.s. Loren is a chick)." Last Wednesday, Legarda urged the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (Iacat) and the National Bureau of Investigation to shut down the site, which she called "the premier bastos portal of the Philippines." She asked the NBI to look into the possibility of cyber-sex operators behind the website to "lure potential customers that can be directed to linked paid services." She said administrators of the website "have evidently also been investing large sums, entering paid porn sites abroad, downloading for a fee some of the materials, and then posting them on boybastos.com for all to see." Worse, she said the porn site encourages visitors to freely contribute their own videos, including so-called sex scandal videos. In a message posted late Wednesday night, however, boybastos.com insisted that would never promote escort services or human trafficking. As for the sex videos, the website said, those were "contributions" of members. "Ipasara ninyo kami sa gusto nyo. Sa bawat sulok ng Pilipinas may nakakakilala sa boy bastos (Close us down if you want. But in every corner of the Philippines, there is someone who knows boy bastos)," the website said. It said that boybastos.com symbolized a community of like-minded people with high libidos. "Sino ba hindi? (But who isn't?)," it said. - GMANews.TV
