Birth of quadruplets elates, worries GenSan fisherman

Quadruplets born last weekend are proving to be a bundle of joy for a poor fisherman and his wife in Sarangani province, despite admitting challenges that come in the new phase of their lives. Fisherman Anastacio Samson Jr on Monday said he was surprised that his wife Thelma gave birth to healthy baby boys within seconds of each other in General Santos City last weekend. "We did not expect the boys. We are poor, we'll have to ask for help," Samson said in Filipino on dzBB radio. Samson said he and his wife will name the boys John Paul I, John Paul II, John Paul III, and John Paul IV, after the late Roman Catholic pontiff Pope John Paul II. The quadruplets will have to share quarters, clothing and personal items with their four other older siblings, Samson said. "Before they were born, we already have four children so we now have eight children," Samson said. - GMANews.TV
