A moment with Maureen Larrazabal

Friday nights wouldn’t be the same if Bubble Gang didn't grace our screens and deliver a weekly dose of gags and jokes. For almost 12 years, the gang has been giving us laughter and good times, a major feat for any show.

One of the secrets of its success is probably the sexy ladies who accompany the wacky duo of Ogie Alcasid and Michael V.

Among these ladies is Maureen Larrazabal. A mainstay of Bubble Gang for years, the viewers expect to see this bombshell come Friday night delivering her wacky spiels.

Being in Comedy

Maureen admits that she likes being in comedy. She however said that she is not sure if she is really funny in person.

“Makulit talaga ako. Mayroon din akong tantrums siyempre everybody naman has tantrums, may mood swings. Pero hindi ko naman kino-consider 'yung sarili ko na walang sense of humor," shares the sexy comedienne.

Indeed, this lady has a knack for making us laugh. She is able to keep up with veteran comedians like Michael V. and Ogie Alcasid and is one of the go to girls when a funny character needs to be portrayed. But despite this, Maureen confesses that it is not easy being in comedy.

“Mababaw ang mga Filipinos pero if they think and feel that you’re not funny they would not really smile or laugh. Smile nga hirap na eh laugh pa kaya? Tsaka may comic timing, kung papaano 'yung facial expression, so kailangan, siguro talaga. Inaaral din iyon eh," adds Maureen rather thoughtfully.

A work in progress

It may seem odd that after a number of years in gag shows, Maureen does not consider herself as an effective comedienne.

“Hindi, professional lang siguro talaga ako (laugh) kaya ganito katagal. Pag sinabing 7 o’clock, 6:30 andyan na ako. I make it a point na dumarating ako sa oras and pagpumasok ako ng studio ng wala ako masyadong qualms.. hindi ako maarte. Because everybody wants to work and everybody who’s here, they’re just working," she matter-of-factly states.

For Maureen, comedy and drama entail the same discipline. She knows her place in the show and she is happy to do her job. What matters to her is that the show is rating and that she is contributing to the success of the show. Thus, we can surely expect more of her in the following years of Bubble Gang. - iGMA.tv
