Catholic digest magazine now circulated in RP

The US-based "Catholic Digest" magazine is now available in the Philippines, adding the country to its expanding worldwide circulation. The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines said Friday night the magazine's publisher, Bayard Publishing Group, signed a distribution deal with A-Z Direct Marketing Inc, the country’s largest distributor of magazines. In a statement, the CBCP said the contract gives A-Z exclusive rights to market the magazine nationwide. A-Z holds similar exclusive rights for Reader’s Digest magazines and other foreign publications. Bayard Publishing Group is an international publisher with more than 100 periodicals in Europe, Africa, Asia and America. Its single shareholder is the French congregation of the Augustines of the Assumption. “In today’s culture that emphasizes success on material achievements, Catholic Digest reminds people of the importance of values," it said in a statement. “With the proliferation of various forms of media that reinforce negative values, there is a need to remind society, especially our youth, of the need to explore their spiritual connection with God," it added. Catholic Digest, published in the US since 1936, is a Catholic publication devoted exclusively to connecting faith and everyday life. The Catholic Digest features lively, thought-provoking articles and inspiring human-interest stories that help strengthen ones faith and gain fascinating insights into Catholic heritage. “It is for the Catholics who want to understand, celebrate and live their faith more fully in their families, parishes, neighborhoods and communities wherever in the world they happen to be," Bayard said. - GMANews.TV
