Where's RP consulate's $5K pledge for slain OFW in Canada?

Leaders of three Filipino community groups in Canada were confident they would be able to raise at least $10,000 to send the remains of slain Filipino housekeeper Jocelyn Dulnuan to her family in Ifugao. The Philippine consulate in Toronto reportedly pledged $5,000, but Dulnuan’s friend Sol Pajadura said, “we have heard nothing from them." Foreign Secretary Alberto Romulo instructed Consul General Alejandro Mosquera to provide full assistance, including repatriation of Dulnuan’s body, to her family. Dulnuan left behind a three-year-old child and live-in partner who are in Barangay Namulditan, Hingyon town, Ifugao. Her mother and three sisters are said to be working as a domestic helpers in Hong Kong. On Saturday night, the Filipino Association of Vaughn, Philippine Independence Day Council and the Ifugao Association of Canada held a fund raising event at Patricia Kemp Community Center in Vaugh, Ontario for the repatriation of Dulnuan’s body. The community groups’ leaders called on Philippine authorities in Toronto to “muster all the necessary resources" to bring Jocelyn’s remains back home. "We strongly demand that the Philippine Consulate muster all the necessary resources to bring Jocelyn's remains back home. The consulate has the responsibility to look after the rights and welfare of its nationals, especially its overseas workers, who send billions of dollars to their home country a year," said Sol Pajadura at a fund raising event. Dulnuan was found dead in her basement living quarters in a Mississauga mansion on October 1. She moved to Canada last November after working for several months as nanny in Hong Kong. Police have not released any details on how she died or the possible suspects being hunted. Investigators suspect Dulnuan was killed during a botched robbery in the Doulton Place mansion valued at $15 million. "But still, we have heard nothing from them," Pajadura was quoted as saying in a Toronto Star report. "The Philippine consulate continues to drag its feet in exercising its responsibility for bringing Jocelyn's remains back to her hometown even as the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs has already issued instructions to provide full assistance," Pajadura said. Fay Hangdaan, cousin of Dulnuan's live-in partner, has been accepting donations at fayduludulh@yahoo.ca for the repatriation of the 27-year-old housekeeper’s body. - GMANews.TV
