Trillanes launches Senate cyber office in detention

Left with no other effective means to communicate with his constituents, detained Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has decided to make the Internet his Senate cyber office. On Wednesday, Trillanes, who is locked up at the Philippine Marine Corps headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, launched his “online office" at www.trillanes.com.ph. "I welcome you all to my home in the Internet, the amazing technology that, perhaps unknown to many, played a large and effective role in my election as senator of the Republic of the Philippines," he said in his welcome message on his Web site. His Web site featured online versions of his bills and speeches, as well as a photo gallery. It also documented his activities "inside and outside" of the Senate. Trillanes, who relied on a Friendster account and a blog during his campaign, also offered email addresses for constituents to send in their comments and suggestions. Among the email addresses were sonny@trillanes.com.ph, senator@trillanes.com.ph, mikko@trillanes.com.ph (IT), myra@trillanes.com.ph (legal), and mara@trillanes.com.ph (legislative). "I am eager to interact with you on matters that impact upon our nation and people. Write me about your views, tell me your ideas, and suggest to me modes of cooperation that will benefit my work of service to all Filipinos and our country, the Philippines," he said. - GMANews.TV
