Fire hits Glorietta 4 resto in Makati, no casualty reported

(Updated 1:33 p.m.) Fire broke out at a restaurant inside Glorietta 4 shopping mall in Ayala Center, Makati City, radio dzBB reported past noon Sunday. Mall employees, who were told to vacate the area, told dzBB that they saw thick smoke coming out of the establishment. The report said glass windows of the Seafood Seafood Market restaurant at the mall's second floor were broken down, and firemen were on standby. Police cordoned off access to the site. Meanwhile, GMA News Flash Report said people from Ayala Land Corporation where inspecting the restaurant's exhaust fan when they noticed a spark. About 1:30 p.m., Chief Supt. Luizo Ticman, head of the Southern Police District, told reporters that the fire, which reached the first alarm, "is now under control." He said the blaze from the restaurant's kitchen was due to faulty electrical wiring. Ticman said no casualties have so far been reported from the incident. He said there was "no cause for alarm," as the incident was "isolated," and had nothing to do with the bloody blast at the Glorietta 2 portion of the mall. Glorietta 2 exploded on Friday, killing 11 people, and injuring over a hundred others. - with reports from AMITA LEGASPI, GMANews.TV
