Makati gov’t orders temporary closure of all Glorietta malls

The Makati City Engineering Office on Monday ordered the temporary closure of Glorietta malls 1, 2, 3, and 4 in Ayala Center, which will take effect at 8 p.m., the city’s vice mayor, Ernesto Mercado said during a press conference. He said the closure would help city engineers and structural experts of the Ayala Land, Inc., owner of the entire Glorietta, to determine the safety of the malls. He said the closure order was issued by city engineer Nelson Morales. On Friday, October 19, Glorietta 2 exploded and killed 11 people and hurt at least 112 others. On Sunday, October 21, a fire broke out at a restaurant in Glorietta 4. “The inspection is intended to determine up to what area has to be closed or until when it has to be closed" Mercado said. - GMANews.TV
