Interviewed over radio dzBB, Chief Superintendent Joel Goltiao, police chief of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said he has ordered personnel in the area to double security and patrol operations.
Goltiao cited intense political rivalry and the proliferation of armed groups in the 100 villages as basis for tagging the villages as hotspots.
Poll hotspots are usually placed under the control of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
The Comelec had earlier placed 413 villages in the Bicol region as poll hotspots. - GMANews.TV
