11 Chinese food products contain formaldehyde - BFAD


The Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) has tagged 11 food products from China, including candy and luncheon meat products, as containing formaldehyde. In an advisory dated October 18 but posted on the BFAD website Monday, the BFAD ordered the recall and withdrawal of the products from store shelves. "BFAD has already issued a directive to the concerned importer and/or distributor of the said products as well as supermarkets to immediately recall or withdraw the above products from the market," BFAD director Leticia Barbara Gutierrez said in the advisory. The products included: * Fat and Thin Lo Han Kou Pei Pa Koa candy (importer Hua San Wan Foodmart Inc., Supervalue Inc., SM City Cagayan); * Sau Tab Noodle King Dried Mix, Soya Bean Paste (Sun Shun Fuk Foods Co., Ltd., importer Jeegs Ace Teamwork Inc., Metro Ayala Center Supermarket); * Taro Milk (Nature & Nutrition & Healthy Delicious and Incomparable!) (Huajia Foods Co. Ltd., Jinjiang City, imported by Metro Legaspi Supermarket); * Natural is Best 200 (importer Supervalue Inc., SM City Cagayan); * Wang Fu Yuan The Best For You 120 (Hong Kong Liangshi Food Co. Ltd., Wanfu Food Factory; importer Unite General Merchandise); * Golden Monkey Milk Candy (Shanghai Golden Monkey Food Co. Ltd., importer Unity General Merchandise); * Xinlong Nougat Candy (Xinlong Food Co. Ltd., Zhongshan City, importer Unity General Merchandise); * Aoxiang (importer Coen General Merchandise); * Sheng Long Marshmallow/Bunny Marshmallow (Zhongshan Kunbo Foodstuff Import & Export Corp., importer Coen General Merchandise); * Maleng pork luncheon meat (Chongqing Winsun Foodstuff Co. Ltd., importer JRY Mart); and * Nicefoods Sweet Orange C% (importer Camellia Food Manufacturing).
