Nida Blanca still crying out for justice - daughter

Despite the death of Rod Strunk who was tagged as the mastermind in Nida Blanca’s murder, the late actress' daughter on Wednesday said justice for the 2001 killing remains elusive. Kaye Torres, Blanca’s daughter, said at least two "big personalities" who may be responsible for the death of her mother remain free, QTV’s Balitanghali reported. While she did not identify the “two personalities," Torres said the family believes that Strunk could not have carried out the murder alone. "Hustisya pa rin sinisigaw ng mommy ko. Alam ng lahat hindi ito (ginawa lang) ng isang tao (My mother still cries out for justice. And we all know it is not possible for one person alone to kill my mother)," Torres said. To recall, Blanca, Dorothy Jones in real life, was found bloodied and brutalized inside her Nissan Sentra parked at the Atlanta Centre building in the early morning of Nov. 7, 2001. Philip Medel Jr. owned up to the crime but took back his confession when presented before the Justice Department, claiming he was tortured into owning up to the crime. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), which was ordered to handle the case, tagged Strunk as the mastermind and Medel as one of the killers after eight months of investigation. By then, however, Strunk had already left the country. Despite repeated extradition tries by the Philippine government, has Strunk eluded arrest. Strunk died after falling off a hotel building in California last July. - GMANews.TV
