Rains could add woes to All Saints’ Day trekkers


Heavy traffic, overcast skies and possible rains – these are some of the travel woes people heading for the provinces, cemeteries and memorial parks should expect Wednesday and Thursday as the exodus for the All Saints’ Day would be at its peak, authorities said. As of 5 p.m., Motorists going to southern Luzon could expect heavy traffic along the Skyway but the situation would ease along the expressway, traffic monitoring agencies told radio stations Wednesday. Other traffic advisories: *Traffic from Magallanes to Sucat was slow moving due to constructions along Bicutan. * Alabang to Alabang viaduct, moderate due to rehabilitation of the suspension bridge. * Traffic along South Luzon Expressway from Alabang to Calamba, moderate. Northbound motorists could experience light to moderate traffic. * North Luzon Expressway was light in both directions, according to NLEX Traffic Control. Jaworski Pua of the Tollways Management said ambulant tellers are ready for traffic build-up in any of their tollgates at Balintawak, Quezon City; Dau and San Fernando, both in Pampanga. ] Low-pressure area spotted At the weather front, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Wednesday a new shallow low-pressure area was spotted off north Mindanao. In its 5 p.m. advisory Wednesday, Pagasa said the shallow low-pressure area was estimated to be 290 kilometers east of Northern Mindanao as of Wednesday afternoon. On the other hand, it said the tail end of a cold front is now affecting extreme Northern Luzon. Pagasa said extreme northern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao would experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Northern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate blowing from the northeast to northwest with slight to moderate seas. Last Tuesday, Pagasa said thunderstorms would likely mark All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day. Numbers coding suspended The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced on Wednesday the suspension of the implementation of the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) on November 1 and 2.
