Esperon to sue Trillanes over mastermind tag in Glorietta blast

Armed Forces chief General Hermogenes Esperon Jr on Friday said he would file a formal complaint against detained Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV for linking him and National Security Adviser Norberto Gonzales in the Glorietta 2 blast last October. In an interview in Borongan, Eastern Samar, Esperon said he has yet to decide whether he would file libel charges before the courts or a complaint before the Senate ethics committee against Trillanes. Esperon said he would have "something more concrete" by Monday. The military chief said that contrary to the claims of Trillanes that the incident at Glorietta was planned, investigation results points to an accidental gas, explosion. Esperon noted that local investigators’ findings are backed up by the results of the separate investigations conducted by foreign blast experts. In vowing to file charges against Trillanes, Esperon also warned other detained military members to be careful in issuing statements against the government. To recall, Trillanes tagged Esperon and Gonzales as the brains behind the deadly blast that killed 11 people and injured more than a hundred others. He said the officials orchestrated the blast to divert the public's attention from the bribery allegations hurled against the administration. The rookie senator later claimed he has a witness who could prove that the government has a hand in Glorietta blast, and even filed a resolution urging the Senate to investigate the Glorietta blast. - GMANews.TV
