The Commission on Elections on Monday confirmed reports that one of its election officers in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) was abducted by a still unidentified group last Friday.
Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez identified the victim as Kasan Laguindab, election officer of Wao, Lanao del Sur.
Jimenez also told GMANews.TV in a phone interview that he received unconfirmed reports from his sources that the abductors were asking for a P2-million ransom for the release of the victim.
He said they are still coordinating with police for the other details of the kidnapping.
"Inaalam pa rin kung sino ang dumukot. We are trying to get as much information as we can," Jimenez said.
