NCRPO declares full alert; checkpoints up

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Tuesday declared a 'full alert' and announced that it would be putting up checkpoints throughout Metro Manila. The move came amid suspicions by some lawmakers that the blast that ripped through the south entrance lobby of the Batasan complex was part of a terrorist attack. One of those who aired his suspicion was House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr who described the explosion as a "terror attack on the House." Another said that one theory that floated right after the blast was that it came from a "car bomb." "There is a theory that it's a car bomb, but I doubt it because that van that was parked behind my car was not damaged like it had a bomb," Akbayan president Ronald Llamas, whose car was one of those damaged, said. "Sa tingin ko, planted ito sa daanan. Kung car bomb, wasak dapat 'yung van... so I doubt that it was a car bomb,"he added. - GMANews.TV
