PNP: Bomb in Batasan blast likely remotely detonated

A remotely detonated bomb likely caused the explosion that ripped through the south wing entrance of the House of Representatives in Quezon City Tuesday night, police said. Metro Manila police chief Dir. Geary Barias also said at least one in-house cameraman has been invited for questioning to shed light on what happened. "We cannot say yet if it is an act of terror," Barias said, adding an in-house cameraman whom he identified only as Caloy (earlier identified as Cesar) is "under questioning." But when asked if Caloy was placed under arrest, he said, "we are asking questions." Barias also said they are still determining what kind of explosive was used in the blast. Meanwhile, police had extricated the body of the fatality, identified as Marcial Taldo, from the Toyota van that exploded. Taldo was the driver of Gabriela Rep. Luzviminda Ilagan. Also, personnel from the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) and the Philippine Army arrived past 10 p.m. to help in investigating the incident and cordoning off the blast site. - GMANews.TV
