Impeachment issue vs Arroyo 'settled,' Palace says

Malacañang dismissed as "settled" the impeachment complaint of lawyer Roberto Rafael "Roel" Pulido against President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, which was swept under the rug Wednesday by the House administration allies. In a statement, Presidential Spokesman Ignacio Bunye said that, "With this matter settled, we should move on and focus on issues that matter to our future." The House justice committee voted 43-1 to declare the Pulido complaint as "insufficient in substance." The minority bloc, which had walked out of last Monday's hearing, boycotted the hearing. Laguna Rep. Edgar San Luis was the lone congressman who voted in favor of the complaint. He endorsed the Pulido complaint. Bunye said that, "Too much preoccupation with politics does not promote stability, continuity, security and order that we need to move Team Philippines forward." - GMANews.TV
