Carlene talks about her 'spat' with Cristine Reyes

Beauty queen Carlene Aguilar, who has been tight-lipped since her reported confrontation with young actress Cristine Reyes on November 7 during the taping of All Star K in Broadway Centrum, broke her silence in an exclusive The Buzz interview with Boy Abunda, aired Nov 18. In the one-on-one interview, Carlene spilt every ounce of her pent-up emotions—resentment, love, and hope. At first she thought that staying silent would calm down the issue. But instead it took up more and more power, leading to speculations on what she really whispered to Cristine during their encounter and prompting the latter to file a lawsuit. For Carlene, everything was meant to be between herself, Cristine, and the man they are both involved with—matinee idol Dennis Trillo. But because of the media frenzy that Cristine and her sister Ara Mina whipped up, Carlene finally chose to go all-out publicly and explain her side. At the start of the interview, Boy expressed wonder at why Carlene chose to break her silence. Was it because she could not bear the write-ups any longer? "Kasi Tito Boy, it's too much," Carlene explained. "Yung accusations toward me... I tried to keep mum but I can't stay that way any longer kasi alam kong wala akong ginagawang masama. Yung nanunugod ako, yung palengkera ako... Basta sobrang dami na." "Umpisahan natin doon sa nanugod," Boy said. "Nanugod ka nga ba noong araw ng November 7?" "Unang-una, Tito Boy, gusto ko i-clear at gusto kong sabihin sa inyong lahat na hindi ako nanugod," Carlene stressed. "Walang ganoon. "Honestly, Tito Boy, sa totoo lang, I wasn't too happy to see her [Cristine]," Carlene bluntly said. "Kasi noong nasa ano pa lang ako, States, nali-link na siya kay Dennis and siyempre showbiz, nali-link, ganoon. So, tinawagan ko si Dennis. Sabi ko, ‘Totoo ba ito, ganyan?' It was then when Carlene revealed that she wanted to meet Cristine in person since she found out something about her and Dennis when she was still in the States. "I called her up and I asked her. So, nandoon na din ako [sa Broadway Centrum], so gusto ko na rin siya makilala." Did she have a hunch that Dennis and Cristine were having an affair when she was still in the States? "Tinawagan ko yung girl," Carlene admitted. "Hindi namin napag-usapan yun [relationship with Dennis] kasi iba po yung sinabi ko sa kanya. Basta may sinabi siya sa akin na gagawin niya na hindi naman ginawa. Basta sinabi ko na meron kaming relasyon [ni Dennis] and we're trying to fix things. Kasi medyo nagiging kumplikado na yung relationship namin that time kasi maraming problema." Back to the present. Carlene now recounts her story on what happened during that fateful day at the Broadway Centrum. "Natapos po yung rehearsal , ‘tapos nagkasalubong po kami [ni Cristine] kasi si Jenny yung nahuli, e, so hinintay ko si Jenny ‘tapos binigay ko na yung pasalubong ko. ‘Tapos dumiretso po kami sa dressing room kasi dressing room to exit na kasi sa Broadway Centrum." Pero lumingon lang kami dahil may sumigaw na 'pangit' at gusto namin makita kung sino yun." Boy asked, "When you took the initiative of introducing yourself to Cristine, was the handshake friendly o sinaktan mo ba siya?" "No, Tito Boy. It was a very warm handshake," Carlene answered, even demonstrating how she extended her arms to Cristine. Boy asked whether it was something that Carlene said that maybe made Cristine angry or hurt. Is Carlene hoping to get support from him, even if Dennis tried to hide her condition a few months ago? It's not like that. It was our choice." How is Dennis as a father to their Calix Andreas? "Excited siya lagi," smiled Carlene. "'Tapos pag wala siyang taping, pumupunta siya sa bahay. Everyday nagte-taping siya, pero talagang naghahanap siya ng time para kay Calix. Dun sa ipinapakita niya, e, I admire him. Mahal ko siya kasi siya yung dad ng anak ko. We're still fixing it. Right now, ang concern namin talaga ay si Calix." When asked if she and Dennis had talked about marriage during their five-year relationship, Carlene said: "Not formally. Wala pa sa isip ko noon." One day, Boy said, Calix would be able to see the video interview and understand the situation his parents went through. Does Carlene have anything to say to him?
