Neil Gaiman to grace 20th Philippine Advertising Congress

Fantasy writer Neil Gaiman captures the imagination of Filipinos once again as he gives a talk titled "The Gathering of Dreamlings and Nightmares" on November 24 (9 am) at El Centro, Subic Bay. The British author of science fiction and fantasy literary works first visited the Philippines in July 2005 when he promoted his New York Times best-selling 2001 novel for adults, American Gods. Gaiman is best known for his cult DC Comics series Sandman (Vertigo). His Sandman #19: "A Midsummer Night's Dream" took the 1991 World Fantasy Award for best short story, making it the first comic ever to be awarded a literary award. Together with Roger Avary, he wrote the script for the motion picture Beowulf, directed by Robert Zemeckis, and starring Anthony Hopkins and Angelina Jolie. Gaiman also co-penned the script for Stardust, starring Robert DeNiro, Michelle Pfeiffer and Claire Danes, and narrated by Ian McKellan. He has been given the honor of appearing in the Dictionary of Literary Biography as one of the top ten living post-modern writers for probing the worlds of imagination and creativity through various literary works. The exclusive and intimate session in Subic is open to non-delegates of the 20th Philippine Advertising Congress, where the New York Times best-selling author is tapped as one of the keynote speakers. Only 1,000 tickets are available for P1,500 each, which includes a signed Beowulf manuscript book! For inquiries, call 0915-6436040 or 751-8152 and look for Lucre Villaluna. Gaiman is also expected to launch Expeditions and will award the winners of the 2nd Philippine Graphic Fiction Awards at the Fully Booked Bonifacio High Street courtyard on November 25 (3 pm). Expeditions is the compilation publication of the winners and the best entries from the 1st Philippine Graphic/Fiction Awards held last year. This event is free of charge. - Philippine Entertainment Portal
