Double whammy? 'Lando' might return to RP amid typhoon 'Mina'

The country could face a double weather whammy this week as the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said on Sunday that storm “Lando" might return to the Philippines. Nathaniel Cruz, Pagasa weather specialist, said “Lando is still very much alive." “Buhay na buhay pa si Lando. Posibleng bumalik si Lando sa Philippine area of responsibility (Lando is still very much alive, and it can still return to the Philippine area of responsibility)," Cruz said in an interview on dzXL radio. Before leaving the Philippines last Friday, “Lando" caused at least 14 deaths when it swept through Southern Luzon, Bicol and Visayas. Typhoon 'Mina" came after "Lando" left for Vietnam. "Mina" is now heading toward north Luzon. Meanwhile, dzBB radio reported that heavy rains in past days have forced the evacuation of some 298,000 persons in Region 5. Rains have also affected some 1,418 hectares of farmlands in Bicol, and destroyed 72 houses in Camarines Sur, the report said. - GMANews.TV
