Fr. Martin Cup starts Nov 30

The 3rd Fr. Martin Collegiate Open Cup starts Friday (November 30) at the La Consolacion College of Manila Gym with an 18-team cast that includes University Athletic Association of the Philippine (UAAP) champion De La Salle University and back-to-back National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) titlist San Beda College. According to a league statement, the Red Lions will be divided into two teams – San Beda A headed by 6-foot-9 Nigerian Emeka Udo and 2006 NCAA high school rookie MVP Elvin Pascual, and San Beda B to be led by 2007 NCAA rookie of the year Dave Marcelo and Bam Bam Gamalinda. San Beda B will immediately see action in this event as it takes on San Sebastian-Cavite in the main offering of a heavy four-game bill at 1:30 p.m. Other matches will see Mapua Institue of Technology, led by reigning NCAA MVP Kelvin de la Peña, facing Philippine College of Criminology at 9 a.m., NAASCU champion STI College against Adamson University at 10:30 a.m., and Jose Rizal University versus Metro Manila College at 12 noon. The Fr. Martin Cup games will be played during weekends and holidays in three venues — the gyms of Arellano University, La Consolacion College, and Far Eastern University. The league is organized by Ato Badolato, Joey Lim, and Kurt de Guzman with Aric del Rosario as commissioner. - GMANews.TV
